This is the website for the Molecular Quantum Metrology group at University College London.

We are an experimental group working on developing techniques to control molecules at the quantum level and using this control to perform measurements which can probe for new physics.

We are always on the lookout for talented, enthusiastic PhD students and postdocs. We also sometimes host undergraduate students for projects. If you are interested in working with us, please send an email to (luke.caldwell at ucl.ac.uk).

news

Jul 01, 2025 Laser enclosures have arrived!
Jun 30, 2025 Cathy Darling recently joined the group as a PhD student as part of the UCL CDT program. She will be working on the YbCaF project: confining Yb and CaF in optical tweezer traps to try and form ultracold YbCaF molecules.
Jun 02, 2025 Henry Sewell has started in the group as a PDRA. He joins from working on an atom accelerometer at Imperial College and brings a wealth of cold atoms experience. Welcome Henry!
Oct 18, 2024 We have a new opening for a postdoc in our group! The new group member will work on an experiment building ultracold triatomic molecules for probing nuclear CP violation. Find out more here.
Oct 01, 2024 We’re excited to have Sam Haswell join the group today as a new PhD student. He will be working on the new experiment to associate triatomic molecules.
